What’s New in Wesley Chapel?
New Restaurants, New Stores Planned for the Tampa Premium Outlet Mall area; Florida Hospital Center Ice Facility Targeting Late Summer Opening.
If you’ve driven past the Tampa Premium Outlet mall lately, then you know what a busy retail destination that Wesley Chapel is these days. It has only been a few months since the outlet stores opened but we already have lots of construction activity, not to mention all of the traffic, buzzing around the I-75 and State Road 56 area.
Here’s a quick run-down of the progress and the plans for the Cypress Creek Town Center development.
Culvers of Wesley Chapel opened right off of SR 56 in late February! This Wisconsin-based restaurant is the place for the famous butter burger and decadent frozen custard. Culvers is continuing to expand the number of Florida locations with a total of 23 and counting.
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen is a Texas-based national restaurant chain that is known for its homemade comfort food like burgers, sandwiches, specialty beer and more. Construction of Cheddar’s location Tampa Premium Outlet location seems to be well underway so it shouldn’t be too much longer until this restaurant is completed and welcomes new customers.
Plans have been approved for both Costco and Chick-fil-A to move into locations around the outlet mall property. Costco will be located on the south side of SR 56 and is targeting a late summer grand opening. When this mega-retailer moves in, local residents will certainly rejoice at not having to make the trek to the Brandon Costco!
BJ’s restaurant and Panda Express have both filed conceptual plans for space in this area, although no specific timeline is yet available. BJ’s is a restaurant chain with other locations in Florida and specializes in craft brews, burgers and pizza.
Florida Hospital Center Ice
Possibly the coolest part of the I-75/SR 56 interchange will be the highly anticipated $20 million dollar ice complex that is now scheduled to open sometime in late summer. Now named the Florida Hospital Center Ice facility, this will be a state-of-the-art sports center for hockey and a variety of sports and includes an Olympic-size rink, three NHL-size rinks and a kid’s practice rink. In addition, there’s 17,000 square-feet designated for multi-sport use for roller hockey, street hockey, tennis, soccer, volleyball, lacrosse and basketball. Located at the northeast corner of the I-75/SR 56 corner, they hope to open the ice center in time to have a full hockey program this fall.
