What’s Trending Now In Home Design?
Find Out Which Design Trends Are Still Going Strong In 2016
Somewhere between Spring cleaning and Spring Break is the time of year when we get the urge to redecorate. If this season of renewal finds you longing to incorporate something new into your home décor, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s take a look at the next big interior design trends for 2016, some of which are still going strong from last year.
Formal spaces are out. Casual and modern rooms are still going strong!
When was the last time you entertained in a formal dining room? Yes, we hear you. For most people, the dining room takes center stage for a few big holidays and then collects dust for the rest of the year. On the other hand, that smart sectional that you invested in is still working hard in your home providing open, modular seating that’s as flexible as your life. Open, loosely defined areas can be easily repurposed when your entertaining and or living needs change.
The use of graphic elements.
Prints and geometric patterns are still visible but it’s a trend that may be winding down now. If you do chose a bold floral pattern for your drapes or a graphic statement in your tile, then make sure it’s something that you can live with for a longer period of time. A heavy geometric pattern in black and white can stay relevant for a much longer time than say, avocado colored bathroom tile. Unless retro is your thing of course!
Statement light fixtures.
Ready to overhaul your entrance way or any other space in one easy step? Just add an oversized light fixture in a dramatic shape or gilded finish and your guests will linger around it. There are almost too many shapes and styles to choose from these days- geometric, ultra-modern, pendant style or angular-so just get an idea of what direction you want to go in. If you need some inspiration, head out to Tampa’s Restoration Hardware in International Plaza.
Using repurposed materials.
Recycling and repurposing old materials into functional pieces is a trend that continues to be on point. And why not? When you can reuse older textiles or elements and create something useful, it’s an artsy way to make a statement while being good to our planet, a win-win. For example, an old weathered door can make a cool antique coffee table.
Black window frames really punctuate a neutral room.
Now this is a newer trend that we hope is here to stay. Painting the window frame in solid black is a very cool way to accentuate an otherwise plain or neutral room. If your windows look out to a pool or pretty conservation view, it’s also a great way to showcase the outdoors.
