Dreaming of a high-tech Tampa Bay home? The concept is becoming even more of a reality these days, if this year’s Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas was any indication, as high tech products for the home were once again a big trend. In fact, according to a Coldwell Banker survey, 45% of Americans are expected to have some sort kind of smart home technology device by the end of 2016.Further, 54% of homeowners said that they would definitely install these types of smart home gadgets if they knew that the technology would make their home sell faster-especially products that enhance security or temperature controls. Every year, more smart home products become increasingly available and attainable for the average home owner.
Remote controls on home systems continue to trend throughout the home.
Try the HaloSmart Smoke alarm, a smart device which detects both smoke and carbon monoxide then sends alerts to your phone. It will inform you of emergencies while you’re away from home and also issues voice-driven weather alerts. And no need to change the battery each year-this one lasts for ten years!
Everyday products are getting smarter in more useful ways.
Here’s proof that smart home products can also be practical. The TOTO smart toilet only has to be cleaned once a year, thanks to high tech materials and a system that uses ultraviolet light and electrolyzed water to clean with every flush. The Toto will also raise the lid, heat the seat and even has a bidet-like feature.
The trend of automatic replenishment is gaining momentum across many smart home categories, starting with printers, washing machines, Brita filters and more.
Amazon introduced a “replenishment” service that works with specific connected products, identifying when they are running low and then automatically refilling. Track and refill toner usage on select Brother Printer models and then opt to automatically order more from Amazon when levels dip.
In addition, GE will launch a washer that will automatically buy its own laundry detergent. The machine will monitor the amount of soap that’s used and is programmed to order more from Amazon when the supply gets low. Whirlpool unveiled a similar washer at the CES that also syncs to Amazon’s Dash replenishment service.
Look for more “set it and forget it” type products that coordinate with Amazon Dash in the following categories: Brita water filters, pet food dispensers, pool monitors, coffee makers and soap dispensers.
